VA Medical Center "Workplace for Life" Registration Drive
EVENT DATE: -
The Portland VA Medical Center, working with Pacific Northwest Transplant Bank, Donate Life Northwest, and Lions VisionGift, is holding a registration drive this week at the Portland medical center.
Workplace for Life is a national initiative uniting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with the organ, eye, and tissue donation community and hospital partners across the nation. In 2011, HHS instituted the “Hospital Challenge” campaign that encouraged hospitals to take a greater role in this process. The Portland V.A. joined more than 11,000 national partners in promoting the importance of donation, and educating their staff, patients, and public about the need.
We are pleased to announce that the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Portland has reached "gold medal" status in the Phase II Challenge of the Workplace For Life Hospital Campaign—the first hospital to report doing so!
Currently, there are 300 Veterans at the Portland VA Medical Center awaiting kidney and liver transplants.
