Amanda was a 27-year-old oncology nurse, working at a job she loved, when life took a hard turn – end stage lung disease.
Thanks to two angel donors -- Samantha and Katie -- the Hoyle Family is enjoying life together and giving back to the community.
Following a diagnosis of cardiomyopathy, Tracy Hoyle’s first gift of life in 2000 allowed her to give birth to her amazing son, Trent. But 12 years after her first transplant, Tracy’s health was declining, and doctors told her that she would need another heart transplant – and a kidney transplant, as well.
On October 21, 2012, a donor named Katie donated her heart and kidney to give Tracy the gift of life. Katie’s gifts have allowed Tracy to enjoy her time with her husband, Derrick, and watch their son graduate high school and enroll at Oregon State University. She’s also an avid walker, participating in 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, and participating on the Transplant Trotters team for the Portland to Coast relay.
The Hoyle Family is grateful to both of Tracy’s “angel” donors – Samantha and Katie. Tracy, Derrick, and Trent are proud and active volunteers for Donate Life Northwest.
